BRIAN T. MOFFATT is Of Counsel in the firm’s Houston office, where he focuses on U.S. regulatory compliance as it relates to the FCPA and compliance investigations.

Mr. Moffatt:

  • Assists clients in the development and implementation of internal compliance programs addressing export controls, “deemed” exports, economic sanctions, Antiboycott issues, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and the UK Bribery Act
  • Assists clients in complex regulatory compliance investigations
  • Participates in on-site client audits and compliance reviews

Prior to joining Ladner & Associates, Mr. Moffatt was Chief Compliance Officer at Pride International and Ensco plc, and Senior Compliance Counsel at Baker Hughes Inc. Mr. Moffatt’s experience includes 13 years as an Assistant United States Attorney, where his practice included white-collar crime, corporate fraud and other economic crimes, money laundering, trade sanctions, and appellate briefing and argument; four years as Senior Regional Attorney for the FDIC; and extensive litigation experience as a trial lawyer while in private practice. In addition to his legal experience, Mr. Moffatt served as a linguist/ interpreter in Mandarin Chinese while in the United States Air Force.

Mr. Moffatt is a frequent international speaker on anti-corruption and other compliance topics for American Conference Institute, Compliance Week, National Association of Corporate Directors, Hanson Wade, Marcus Evans, C5 European Forum, IQPC, Consero, State Bar of Texas, Houston Bar Association, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, among others.
